BMI Hand Baggage Allowance

1 piece max size 55x40x23cm, plus one personal item such as a handbag or purse.

These dimensions include wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.  If your hand baggage exceeds this size, you will be asked to return to check-in and check the bag into the hold.

 

BMI Hold Baggage Allowance

Unlimited pieces, max total weight 20kg

Infants - 1 piece up to 10kg plus 1 fully collapsible stroller

UK, Ireland and Regional route - 1 piece, max weight 20kg.

 

BMI Excess Baggage Allowance

Tier 1 BMI operated flights within the UK, including Dublin £9 per kg Additional bag charge of £10 per item for customers travelling on Economy fares. Regardless of the number of bags, if the combined weight is over 20kg, £9 per kg fee applies.

Tier 2 BMI operated flights between tier 1 stations and all stations within Western Europe and Moscow £11 per kg

Tier 3 BMI operated flights between any station in tiers 1 and 2 and Addis Ababa, Almaty, Amman, Baku, Beirut, Bishkek, Cairo, Damascus, Freetown, Khartoum, Tbilisi, Tehran and Yerevan £17 per kg

Tier 4 BMI operated flights between any station in tier 1 and 2 and Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh £22 per kg

BMI Lost Baggage Information

If you find that your baggage is damaged or has not arrived at the baggage arrivals, please contact a bmi staff member immediately.  Details of your baggage will be taken and assistance offered.

If your baggage is delayed, you will be given a ten-character WorldTracer reference number. We will start to trace your bags and when found we will contact you and arrange a convenient time for delivery.

BMI Liquids Restrictions

Where possible, put all liquid items in your hold baggage. This includes water and other drinks, creams, sprays, pastes and gels. 

If liquid is to be carried on to the aircraft you must ensure:

- The liquid is in a container with a capacity no greater than 100ml (or equivalent)

- The containers are all contained within one closed transparent re-sealable plastic bag (such as a re-sealable freezer bag or zip top bag) which itself must not exceed 1 litre in capacity or 20cm x 20cm

- The contents of the plastic bag fit comfortably within it, and the bag is completely closed.

BMI Sporting Equipment Policies

A flat rate of £30 per item, per sector will be applied.  If the item is over 20kg but under 32kg then an additional £30 per item, per sector will apply.  

Golf equipment - One pair of golf shoes and one golf bag with clubs

Skiing equipment/snowboards - One pair of skis/poles/boots or snowboard and boots

Bicycles Bicycle - must be suitably packed

Fishing equipment - One tackle box, rucksack or backpack, anglers basket, one rod bag or box

Surfboards/sail boards/water skis/Canoes - Accepted subject to aircraft hold space
